Stop Attending Church – Week 2 Follow Up

Journey Church   -

We’ve just finished our 2nd week of “Stop Attending Church” as we’ve discussed the difference between ATTENDING vs PARTNERING.
I’ve really enjoyed how Zack and Don have started us off in this series because it’s a HUGE part of my heart, that everyone who desires to call Journey HOME takes steps to partner with the church.
HOME. We don’t usually use this word at Journey, but I want to use it as a great example from the challenge to start volunteering this past weekend.
In a HOME, everyone has responsibilities.  Everyone has a place in the family.  Everyone belongs.  Everyone pitches in.  Everyone invests (according to how they’ve been gifted) in using their gifts and talents.

1 Corinthians 12:7 “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.”

How awkward is it to witness someone who comes in and out of a home, sleeps in one of the bedrooms, eats at the table, naturally leaves a mess everywhere they go… and they NEVER engage the FAMILY.  No, I’m not talking about your teenager.   This person may be IN THE HOME, but they are more like a STRANGER than a FAMILY MEMBER.
The church is a representation of the “family of God”.  We are a family at Journey.  Our church organization is our HOME.  Everyone can have a place in the church home.  Everyone can belong to this church home.  Everyone has an opportunity to PITCH IN, to INVEST, and to USE THIER GIFTS and ABILITIES for the benefit/support of the church home.

1 Corinthians 12:25-26 “This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.”

But, the choice is YOURS.
Journey church can simply be a place you ATTEND… and you are ultimately a STRANGER in someone else’s home.
OR, Journey Church can become the spiritual HOME you’ve always wanted it to be.  It takes YOU engaging/partnering with it.  This house (Journey Church) NEEDS you to become all that God intends for us to be as a church family.
Is Journey your Home?  Let us know… take a step to Partner today!
