It’s been a great few weeks at Journey Church as we finished our series on Faith and jumped right into our Partnering series called Stop Attending Church. I’m so proud of the way you have responded over the last 2 weeks as we’ve challenged you to step into groups and step up in volunteering at Journey.
Zack wrote a great blog post this past Wednesday (read if here if you missed it) and I love what he wrote in point #3.
“The difference in attending a service & Partnering with Journey lies in the investment that you have there.”
It really does come down to our desire and action of investing in the church we call home. God has given us our time, talents, and treasures to put to use in His Vision and Mission to humbly point everyone to absolute Hope.
NOTHING happens without an INVESTMENT.
When Jesus talked about investing our lives for the sake of the kingdom, he was always very careful to help us understand the payoff for that investment.
I love the way Luke 6:38 reads in The Message paraphrase:
“Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.”
No one naturally gives away anything. We are not generous creatures. We, by our very nature, are driven to self preservation and self fulfillment. Only Jesus would help us understand that the very thing we truly desire (a RICH, FULL, and FULFILLING LIFE) would come by giving our lives away.
So this week, we’re going to talk about our investment at Journey church. What are we doing with what God has given us collectively as a church and how can we better understand the way that God uses the church to help us find the life we are looking for!
