One of the reasons I love being at Journey is because we understand that being the church means being a part of the LKN community. We love that we are situated in the heart of Lake Norman so that we can humbly point everyone to absolute hope from Denver all the way up to Mooresville!
A key piece of being a part of the LKN community is learning how we can contribute, give back, and come together with our community. That’s what Symphony in the Park is ALL about!
Symphony in the Park is an event hosted by the Town of Cornelius at Bailey Road Park, which features an incredible concert from the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. Oh, did I mention there’s an awesome Fireworks show following the concert and that the whole event is FREE?!?
While this event is awesome enough on it’s own, we wanted to come along side the Town of Cornelius and make it even greater. This is our third year partnering with Cornelius, and we’ll be providing a fun KidZone full of inflatables, face painting, and more, as well as providing the prelude music with the Journey Worship band.
We didn’t have to join in on this party, it was already awesome! We didn’t need to spend the time, energy, and money that we do to help support this community event. So the question is . . . Why? Why is partnering with our community for this event so important to us?
There’s 3 reasons why we intentionally invest in our community through Symphony in the Park every year:
1. We LOVE our Community!
As if you couldn’t tell already, we freaking LOVE the LKN community! We love the people who call this area home, we love the place that we get to humbly point to absolute hope, and we love the opportunity we have to LOVE our community in such a big way!
By partnering with Symphony in the Park, we’re able to make a huge impact on our community in a intentional effort. Every summer, we have the perfect opportunity to show our community how much we love them by helping to make this event the best of the summer!
2. We SERVE our Community!
Loving our community is one thing, but one of the best ways to show love is to SERVE! We have so many great partners through HopeLKN all over the LKN area, and we partner with them for the very same reason. Symphony in the Park gives us a great opportunity to serve our community by facilitating this awesome event.
3. We SUPPORT our Community!
Simply put, we could put all of our time, effort, & energy into creating and putting on our own event. We could rent space, put out advertising, and make something on our own. BUT, why do that when we could come alongside our local community and help them do what they’re already doing but EVEN BETTER?!?
By partnering with the Town of Cornelius, we can build relationships & show that we truly support our local community. And let me tell you, the kind of support we’re able to provide to Cornelius for this event is not just appreciated, but has done so much to help us build relationships with our local community.
